Workshop 4 is a comprehensive software IDE for Microsoft Windows that provides an integrated software development platform for all of the 4D family of processors and modules. The IDE combines the Editor, Compiler, Linker and Downloader to develop complete 4DGL application code. All user application code is developed within the Workshop 4 IDE.
Please see Software and Documentation downloads below
Workshop 4 includes four development environments, for the user to choose based on application requirements or even user skill level.
The Designer environment enables the user to write 4DGL code in its natural form to program the display module.
A visual programming experience, suitably called ViSi, enables drag-and-drop type placement of objects to assist with 4DGL code generation and allows the user to visualise how the display will look while being developed.
An advanced environment called ViSi-Genie doesn’t require any 4DGL coding at all, it is all done automatically for you. Simply lay the display out with the objects you want (similar to ViSi), set the events to drive them and the code is written for you automatically. ViSi-Genie provides the latest rapid development experience from 4D Systems. (Only available for Picaso)
A Serial environment is also provided to transform the display module into a slave serial display module, allowing the user to control the display from any host microcontroller or device with a serial port.
ViSi-Genie – Workshop 4 brings four programming environments to the user, and ViSi-Genie is the latest breakthrough, offering a ‘codeless’ style of display configuration/programming (Available on Picaso only)
Ease of Use – Workshop 4 has been upgraded with a completely new look and feel, with logical sequence of steps to start new projects, along with clean programming environments
Serial – A brand new Serial Environment has been created, allowing 4D System modules to be loaded with a Serial Application, allowing the module to be transformed into a Serial Slave to virtually any serial Host.
Documentation – All new documentation has been produced for the new and current 4D System modules and Software. Documents are up to date, clean and easy to use.
Workshop 4 Ribbon – Workshop 4 features a Ribbon at the top, allowing multiple buttons to be present in the IDE without clutter, and allowing them to be logically grouped.
Zip Project – Workshop 4 projects can be easily zipped up and transported to another PC or via Email, using the new Zip Project feature, saving the hassle of hunting out the files in Windows Explorer.
NOTE: Workshop 4 IDE Software runs on Microsoft Windows
The following are the latest PmmC's available for the 4D Systems range of modules.
Workshop 4 will soon handle the PmmC's, meaning if you are running the latest version of Workshop 4, then you will have all the latest PmmC's available to you on your PC.
In the mean time while this is being developed, all the PmmC's are listed here for ease of downloading.
